DESCRIPTION:LASER CUTTER 101 COURSE \n– 2 Part Series – \nSunday Feb 8\, 2026 9am-2:30pm / Tuesday 10\, 2026 6pm-8:30pm. \nHere’s your chance to learn more about this exciting piece of machinery at the Shuswap Makerspace! Come and get certified to use our 100-Watt HL 1060 Laser Cutting / Engraving machine\, and learn all the capabilities of this amazing tool. What are you going to create?! \n  \nSession 1 – 6 hours with an hour break for lunch \n-In this class\, you will learn the basics of the machine\, safe operation\, and designing for the laser. Knowledge with Windows is required\, and there is software that can be downloaded on your personal computer to prepare your files for the laser. You will learn how to design and then use the laser cutter to cut out the project of instructors choice. \nSession 2 – 2 hours \n-In this second session you will use the laser to print out a project that you have designed for yourself. ( Valentine Theme) \n  \n**This is a certification class\, so once complete\, you can create your own projects and use the space on a drop-in\, monthly\, or annual membership basis! \nThis workshop is led by Pat Shea \n  \nThis course runs over 2 days – Sunday Feb 8\, 2026 9am-2:30pm / Tuesday 10\, 2026 6pm-8:30pm. \n  \nRegister soon as space is limited to 4 people. \n*Minimum 2 people to run the course.* \nPlease Note: You will also need a laptop and usb stick. LightBurn software will run on Windows 7.0 or later\, 32 or 64 bit\, MacOS 10.11 or later\, or 64 bit Linux.

It’s a great way to learn a new skill and enjoy some creative time together. \nInstructor – Linda Wooster\, retired Home Economics teacher and award-winning seamstress \nIn this class you will \n\n learn the parts of a sewing machine and what each part does\n practice using the machine to sew straight seams\n construct a simple shopping bag from your choice of fabric\nAll materials and sewing machines will be provided.\nOpen to Ages 10+\n\nPre-registration is required. \n*****The class runs February 10 at the Shuswap Makerspace\, Two sessions: 9:30 AM–12:00 PM and 3:30 PM–6:00 PM**** \nLocated at 220 Shuswap St. NE Salmon Arm\, BC.
