DESCRIPTION:Memory Makers program – Build A Birdhouse!\nThis program is set up for a senior (55+) and a youth (under 16) to take a class and build a project together for one low cost! Perfect for Grandparents and grandchildren\, Aunts/Uncles with Nieces/Nephews\, or even your favorite neighbor from down the road! \n \nFor this project you will be in the woodshop building a Birdhouse kit together! Fall time is a great time to put up a birdhouse as it serves as an important shelter for roosting and protection from predators and winter weather. These birdhouses are built very well to last the winter weather and are the same ones that you see on the Salmon Arm bird trail! \nOpen to youth 6-16 & seniors over 55. \nIntroduce your youth to the art of woodwork. \nNo major power tools or equipment will be used for this class. You will mainly be sanding and nailing. SUMMARY:Memory Makers - Stained Glass
DESCRIPTION:Memory Makers program – Stained Glass!\nThis program is set up for a senior (55+) and a youth (under 16) to take a class and build a project together for one low cost! Perfect for Grandparents and grandchildren\, Aunts/Uncles with Nieces/Nephews\, or even your favorite neighbor from down the road! \n    \n\nEach senior/youth duo will work together to make a simple sun catcher that will have between 6 and 12 pieces. There will be 4 designs to choose from.\nThe instructor will show students basic glass cutting techniques and various cutting methods for their sun catcher.\nYou will learn how to prepare the edges for foil tape and how to tack pieces in place over the pattern on the work surface; as well as how to apply the solder and patina.\n\n\n\n\nYou will need to bring a pair of ‘high dexterity’ gloves for yourself. – These can be purchased at many local stores (Dollarama\, Canadian Tire\, Walmart\, any hardware or gardening store)\n\n\n\nAll other supplies and tools are included in the course. \n\nThis workshop is led by retired electrician and stained glass-enthusiast\, Jim Hilland.\nNOTE: We ask that you wear closed-toed shoes.
